The Financial Empowerment
In partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies and others, the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund) is promoting the replication of the Financial Empowerment Center model through supporting cohorts of local government leaders to develop, launch, and implement financial counseling as a free public service, along with strategic research projects to enhance the success of financial counseling.
The model is evidence-based and has been shown to work in a diverse group of cities across the country. These cities include Philadelphia, PA, Nashville, TN, San Antonio, TX, Denver, CO, New York, NY, Lansing, MI, and more. The model has provided services to over 99,000 clients and has helped to reduce over $137 million in debt among FEC clients and built savings by over $19 million.
